NOCEN Matriculates Newly Admitted Students

 

Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe recently celebrated its 27th and 43rd matriculation ceremony for Bachelor’s Degree and Nigeria Certificate in Education students. The event, held at the College arena, commenced with a traditional procession and an opening prayer by Reverend Fr Benjamin Udeh.

The arena was filled with matriculants, College staff, families of matriculants, friends, and well-wishers. Notable guests included representatives from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, including the Vice-chancellor.

In his address, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Charles Ezechukwu Igwe, represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Joachim Omeje, emphasized that the occasion marks a new chapter in the matriculants’ lives. He encouraged them to take charge of their decision to be in school and be good representatives of their respective communities.

The new Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Dr Justina Anyadiegwu, commended the innovative environment of the College and urged the newly admitted students to make the most out of the resources available to them. She congratulated the students and cautioned them against involvement in cultism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, etc.

The Provost also expressed gratitude to Mr Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his team for entrusting her with leadership of the College and for their commitment to the betterment of Anambra State.The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngọzi Chuma-Udeh, represented by the Director of Higher Education, Mrs Oyibo Alor, congratulated the new Provost and the matriculants, emphasizing Anambra State’s dedication to academic excellence.Representing the matriculants, Miss Geraldine Okweze and Mr Chiadikaobi Akujieze expressed their joy at being admitted into the College and pledged to prioritize their studies.

The ceremony concluded with the administration of the oath of allegiance by Mrs Uchenna Ugwu from UNN and the admission of the students into the membership of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka by Professor Joachim Omeje. The new students declared their loyalty to the institution, sang the matriculation song, and participated in cultural dance before the closing prayer by Canon Christian Ifeonu.
