NOCEN PROVOST MEETS ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNOR’S WIFE DURING HUMAN PAPILOMAVIRUS (HPV) VACCINE SENSITIZATION, PLEDGES SUPPORT

The Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Dr Justina C. Anyadiegwu met with Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Executive Governor of Anambra State during the Human Papliomavirus(HPV) Vaccine Sensitization at Michael Iwene Tansi Secondary School, Aguleri.

Recall that the United Nations Children’s Fund recently reported that Nigeria has expanded and rolled out Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in 21 States as countries prepare for International Children’s Day on Monday. Anambra State happens to be one of those states

The state government, desirous of quality healthcare for every onye Anambra, is committed to sensitising ndị Anambra on the need to receive the vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a viral infection of the reproductive tract which is believed to account for 95 percent of cervical cancer cases.

Consequent to the state government’s announcement of partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), to begin maiden statewide HPV vaccination, Mrs Soludo encouraged eligible women within the accredited age bracket to turn up for vaccination against the dreaded virus.

In her remarks, Dr Anyadiegwu promised to mobilize resources to reach out to girls of the targeted age bracket ( 9- 14 years) to access HPV vaccine.

She went on to eulogise His Excellency Prof Chukwuma Soludo for his infrastructural developments across Anambra state which earned him the Champion Newspaper’s Best Governor of the Year Award. She also presented a portrait gift to the wife of the governor.

It was a successful outing as people turned up in numbers. Notably, members of the College Chapter of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE) were in attendance, to show solidarity with the Provost.
