Nwafor Orizu College Of Education,Nsugbe, Holds Double Celebration

Nwafor Orizu College Of Education, Nsugbe, has held its 40th anniversary and 20th Convocation ceremony with deep appreciation to God for the great educational attainment of its graduands over the years.

The ceremonies which held at the College Convocation ground had in attendance students, graduands, staff and management of the college, traditional ruler of Nsugbe, Igwe Victor Ntooka , politicians, academia, friends and well wishers.

The event commenced with inspection of projects by Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu and academic procession.

Governor Soludo while addressing the gathering went down memory lane in the commencement of the college and its contributions to the teaching profession and said that convocation is a call to duty.

He cited the recent appointment of five thousand teachers as restating his commitment to fix the challenges in the Anambra education sector which he said is beyond political party lines.

In her address, the Provost of the College, Dr Ifeyinwa Osegbo, described the ceremony as a special moment for members of the college community to celebrate with pride the unleashing of new entrepreneurs, potential employers, employees and talents into the labour force.

She explained that graduation is achieved through handwork and sacrifices by the graduands, parents, sponsors and staff of the institution.

Dr Osegbo used the opportunity to recount blessings and progresses recorded in her administration and also implored Governor Soludo to look into various needs and problems of the college in order to get a better public appeal and attraction in the interest of the smart Anambra vision.

In a congratulatory message from Nwafor Orizu family, Prince Africa Nwafor Orizu, said as a great institution of learning, the college has contributed immensely to the educational development of Anambra State and Nigeria and urged the management to keep the flag flying.

In an interview some of the graduants, Mr Samuel Chukwulobelu and Miss Nancy Onwuawuzo, expressed their excitement for graduating inspite of all the rigorousness they encountered in the course of their schooling.
